INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
Kerava Upper Secondary School is actively involved in international
cooperation. The aim is to offer students knowledge and experiences
of different cultures. It is also important that students
have a good opportunity to make international connections
for the future. Every school year several students of Kerava
Upper Secondary School also travel abroad in order to study
as exchange students in different parts of the world and at
the same time foreign students study in Kerava. These exchange
programs offer students opportunities to make friends with
other students from other cultures.
The school is involved in the following projects
China Project
In cooperation with Järvenpää and Hyrylä
Upper Secondary Schools and Shenzhen Middle School in China,
Kerava Upper Secondary School is involved in the China Project.
The objective of the project is to encourage students to become
familiar with Chinese culture and to stimulate them to acquire
an insight into Chinese language. In addition, the aim is
to help students to learn more about Finland’s economic relations
with China. The project involves visits between the Finnish
and Chinese schools.
Cern Project

Exchange Project with Gymnasium
Stephaneum in Aschersleben Germany
Cooperation with Kerava’s new twin city Aschersleben started
at the beginning of 2010. The exchange project between Gymnasium
Stephaneum and Kerava Upper Secondary School is one part of
the new cooperation between Aschersleben and Kerava. This
project involves visits between the two schools during which
students work on different themes. In May 2011 a group of
students from Aschersleben with their teachers visited Kerava
for the first time. The students worked on “Stadt-Um-Bau-project”
in which the idea is to design new meeting places for young
people in the city centre. The same kind of work will be done
in Germany when Finnish students visit their new friends’
school.
